In the wake of devastating floods impacting Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is rallying its members across India to support the relief efforts. A press release from the party stated that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, along with ministers, MLAs, and volunteers, are diligently working to provide necessary assistance to those in need. Saurabh Bharadwaj, the Delhi AAP President, likened the party's mission to that of the Sikh community, who are known for their selfless service during disasters, encouraging party members to stand united with the people of Punjab during this challenging time.
During a press conference at AAP's headquarters, Bharadwaj discussed the heavy rainfall that has led to flooding in several North Indian states, severely affecting numerous districts in Punjab. He emphasized that the state government is committed to helping flood victims and that a collective effort involving party members, officials, and NGOs is crucial. Highlighting the spirit of service inherent to Punjabis, Bharadwaj called upon AAP workers to embrace this ethos and dedicate themselves to humanitarian efforts.
Jarnail Singh, AAP Delhi Vice President, elaborated on the extensive damage caused by the floods, which have devastated thousands of families and agricultural lands. He pointed out that normally, Punjabis are not inclined to seek help during crises, so it is imperative for everyone who values humanity to lend support now. Singh mentioned the immediate needs for relief materials, which include mosquito nets, tarpaulins, medicines, and children's clothing, rather than just food supplies, as many homes have been completely affected by the floodwaters.
In the conference, Singh also announced a nationwide initiative whereby AAP offices across the country will launch campaigns to gather relief materials for Punjab. He encouraged everyone to participate in these efforts in any capacity they can, emphasizing the importance of coming together to support Punjab in its time of need. Official reports indicate that the floods have claimed 30 lives and severely impacted over 3.5 lakh individuals in around 1,400 villages across 23 districts in Punjab, with Pathankot experiencing the most fatalities.

This shows compassion and a sense of responsibility. Good on AAP for mobilizing their resources.

Collecting donations for Punjab from offices across the country? Shouldn't the Punjab government handle this, not the AAP headquarters in Delhi?
