European Leaders Condemn Deadly Russian Attacks on Kyiv

European leaders expressed their outrage following a devastating attack in Kyiv by Russian forces, which involved drone and missile strikes that resulted in the deaths of at least 21 individuals, including four children. During the assault, approximately 48 others were reported injured, and the attack notably targeted buildings associated with the European Union and the British Council, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen highlighted the proximity of two strikes to the EU Mission to Ukraine, emphasizing that no diplomatic missions should be seen as legitimate targets. In response, the EU's chief diplomat Kaja Kallas announced plans to summon the Russian envoy in Brussels, denouncing the attacks. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also condemned the strikes, characterizing them as revealing Russia's inherent aggression.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer criticized the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, suggesting that these strikes undermine the prospect of achieving peace.
