Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, is recalling a significant number of Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles due to a safety concern. The recall involves 121,398 vehicles, specifically addressing a potential issue with the second-row headrests.
The problem lies in the headrests' locking mechanism. They may not properly secure in the upright position. This malfunction could elevate the risk of injury to passengers in the event of certain types of collisions.
The recall impacts specific models of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee L from the 2023-2024 model years. To rectify the issue, owners can bring their vehicles to a local dealership. The dealership will inspect the headrests and replace them free of charge if necessary.
Vehicle owners will receive notification letters starting on September 5th. For inquiries, owners can contact FCA US, also known as Stellantis North America, at a provided phone number. The recall is identified by the number 20C.
Owners can also reach out to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) safety hotline. The NHTSA's recall number for this issue is 25V-472.
In a separate action, Stellantis previously recalled over 63,000 Jeep Cherokees in January. This earlier recall was due to a defect that could lead to a loss of power and difficulties with parking.

This is ridiculous! A safety recall for something as minor as headrests? They should focus on bigger issues.

If a recall helps prevent any potential injuries, I'm all for it. Better to be cautious!

Spending money to fix things that aren't broken? Prioritize real safety issues instead!
