In response to concerns raised by Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) regarding the activation of the M503 air route's W121 connector, a spokesperson for China's Ministry of Defense, Jiang Bin, addressed the issue. The DPP had claimed this action diminished Taiwan's air defense capabilities and posed a military threat, potentially erasing the "median line of the Taiwan Straits."
Jiang Bin stated that Taiwan is an integral part of China, and therefore, the concept of a "median line" is invalid. He explained that the establishment and use of these flight routes are standard procedures undertaken by relevant authorities to facilitate civil aviation operations, benefiting both sides of the Taiwan Straits.
Furthermore, Jiang Bin criticized the DPP authorities for exploiting the situation for political gain. He accused them of exaggerating the "military threat" to create anxiety, escalate tensions, and hinder cross-Straits interactions. He asserted that such actions are unpopular and will ultimately fail.
The spokesperson attributed the current strained cross-Straits relations to the DPP's collaboration with external forces and their continuous pursuit of "independence." He expressed hope that the majority of Taiwanese citizens would recognize the DPP's true intentions, understand the detrimental effects of "Taiwan independence," and actively oppose separatist actions to jointly preserve peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits.

China’s approach towards Taiwan will only lead to more resistance. It’s time to recognize Taiwan's right to exist independently.

Peaceful coexistence is possible, but it requires acknowledgment of historical realities, including Taiwan's place within China.

Jiang Bin is right to call out the DPP. They are risking peace for their political agenda.

I agree with Jiang Bin that the DPP is manipulating public fear. We need to unite rather than divide.

How does expanding air routes benefit both sides when Taiwan is clearly uncomfortable with it? It’s a power play.
