Former Emperor Akihito, aged 91, has entered the University of Tokyo Hospital for the initiation of a new oral treatment intended to ease the strain on his heart. This decision follows his diagnosis of heart failure related to tricuspid valve insufficiency in July 2022. Prior to this admission, he underwent heart examinations and was found to have asymptomatic myocardial ischemia after being hospitalized in May.
To support his health, the emperor emeritus has been engaged in low-impact exercises and walking, coupled with medication aimed at enhancing blood flow to his coronary arteries. Despite these efforts showing no significant progress, his medical team has determined that an additional oral treatment is now necessary.
The length of his hospital stay remains uncertain; however, it is anticipated that he could be discharged fairly soon, provided that the appropriate dosage is established based on his overall health and heart condition.

This constant health drama is exhausting; it might be time for the emperor to retire completely.

I wish the royal family would focus more on their health rather than their public image.

Sounds like a desperate attempt to stay in the spotlight. Shouldn't health come first?
