We are taking further action by deploying border patrols and specialized units on the French coast to prevent these departures. For the first time, individuals who arrive in the country illegally via small boats will be returned to France. In exchange, we will accept individuals who qualify through safe, legal, and controlled channels. Strict security checks will be implemented, and this route will only be available to those who have not previously attempted illegal crossings. We are committed to fulfilling our duty as a compassionate nation, welcoming genuine asylum seekers who respect our rules and way of life. This approach is fair to those in genuine need and to the British people who expect our rules to be upheld. However, those who attempt illegal crossings will face repatriation. This is intended to serve as a strong deterrent.

We are also tackling the problem domestically. We have deported over 30,000 individuals without the right to be here, the highest number in almost a decade. Additionally, we have increased enforcement against illegal working, resulting in a 50% rise in arrests.
