A man wanted in Japan for the death of his father and the attempted murder of his mother has been found dead. The Shiga Prefectural Police announced the discovery on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Makoto Iwasaki, a 50-year-old unemployed man. He was the son of the victims in the case.
Iwasaki's body was discovered in Aokigahara Forest, Yamanashi Prefecture, on May 11th. A hiker found the body. DNA testing confirmed the identity of the deceased. The cause of death is currently undetermined.
Police had issued an arrest warrant for Iwasaki following a February 25th incident. His parents, Yasuzo Iwasaki, 79, and Kimie Iwasaki, 74, were found with serious head injuries in their apartment in Otsu. The father died at the scene, while the mother survived.
Authorities began searching for Iwasaki in March. They released security footage of the suspect to aid in the search. Despite the suspect's death, the police are still investigating Iwasaki on suspicion of murdering his father. They plan to refer the case to prosecutors.

So sad, a tragic ending. Must have been struggling with something awful.

It's tragic that his life ended this way, no matter the circumstances.

Good riddance. His actions had consequences, albeit not in the expected way.
