Eastern Japan and the Pacific side of the Tohoku region were gripped by an intense heatwave on Tuesday. The Meteorological Agency reported that many areas experienced temperatures that soared above 35 degrees Celsius, indicating a significant and widespread weather event. This extreme heat posed a potential health risk to residents and necessitated precautions.
The agency issued warnings about the continuation of the heatwave throughout the week. A high-pressure system, stretching across both eastern and northern Japan, was identified as the primary cause of the elevated temperatures. This weather pattern was expected to maintain the hot conditions, emphasizing the need for vigilance and preventative measures.
By Tuesday afternoon, the severity of the heat was evident in the recorded temperatures across various cities. Kofu in Yamanashi Prefecture registered a scorching 38.2 degrees Celsius. The city of Takasaki in Gunma Prefecture saw the mercury rise to 37.7 degrees Celsius. Shizuoka experienced a temperature of 37.6 degrees Celsius, while Hachioji in Tokyo reached 36.8 degrees Celsius. These figures highlighted the widespread impact of the heatwave across the affected regions.

So what? It's hot in Japan in August. People need to stop being so soft. Get some water and get on with it.
