Dr. David Bull has been appointed as the new chair of Reform UK, following Zia Yusuf's unexpected resignation the previous week. A well-regarded figure within the party, Dr. Bull previously served as the deputy chair. His association with Nigel Farage began in 2019 when he joined the Brexit Party as an MEP.
The appointment comes after the controversy surrounding Mr. Yusuf's brief departure and subsequent return to lead Reform's cost-cutting unit. Mr. Farage sought a replacement capable of internal diplomacy and attracting financial support, a challenge that critics had identified with Mr. Yusuf's leadership.
Dr. Bull is seen as a suitable choice, having dedicated considerable time to supporting party members and assisting in the party's development. His background includes a career as an NHS doctor and a television presenter, notably on the paranormal show "Most Haunted Live!"
Born in London, Dr. Bull spent his formative years in rural Suffolk before studying medicine at Imperial College London. He earned his medical degrees in 1993. He transitioned away from his medical practice in 2009 to pursue his television interests, though his license was temporarily reinstated to assist during the Covid crisis in 2020.
His broadcasting career began on Sky's Travel Show, followed by roles on Newsround and various CBBC children's programs. He also presented medical advice shows, leveraging his medical expertise.
Dr. Bull's political involvement began early, running unsuccessfully as a Conservative Party candidate in 2010. He has previously expressed disagreements with Mr. Farage, including criticizing his remarks on social media in 2014. He later joined Mr. Farage's Brexit Party in 2019, becoming an MEP. He has since run unsuccessfully for the London Assembly and in West Suffolk in 2024.
Currently, he is a presenter on TalkTV and remains active within Reform as deputy chair. He is a strong supporter of Donald Trump, demonstrating his support during a TalkTV show. Following Mr. Trump's election victory in 2024, Dr. Bull expressed his approval.
Dr. Bull has also voiced his opposition to what he perceives as the influence of "woke" culture, criticizing actions such as TUI's shift to gender-neutral language. He has also criticized Rachel Reeves, labeling her with a derogatory term.

How are we to trust a leader that has switched parties so many times? Commitment to politics seems shaky at best.

His controversial views on 'woke' culture are divisive. Reform UK needs a leader who can unite, not provoke.
