China Dominates at Asian Winter Games, Securing Multiple Golds

At the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China's Gao Tingyu, Lian Ziwen, and Ning Zhongyan were seen during the men's team sprint final awarding ceremony. China dominated the day, securing six out of the seven available gold medals. Japan claimed the remaining gold in the cross-country men's 10km free.

Speed skater Gao Tingyu, a flagbearer during the opening ceremony, earned his second gold of the Games in the men's 500-meter race, following his victory in the men's 100m. Wataru Morishige of Japan and Kim Jun-ho of South Korea took second and third place, respectively. In the women's 3,000m speed skating event, Yang Binyu led a Chinese podium sweep, with Han Mei and Tai Zhien taking silver and bronze.

The Chinese speed skaters continued their success, winning the men's team sprint with a time of one minute and 19.22 seconds. South Korea finished second, and Japan took the bronze. With four finals remaining in the speed skating event, China has already secured the top spot in the medal table for the sport.

China also achieved success in snow events in Yabuli. In the women's big air final, Chinese snowboarder Xiong Shirui secured the gold medal with a score of 164.00 points. Zhang Xiaonan, also from China, won silver, while Suzuka Ishimoto of Japan took bronze. Yang Wenlong of China dominated the men's big air, winning with 193.25 points. Jiang Xinjie, another Chinese athlete, claimed silver, and Kang Dong-hun of South Korea finished third.

In freestyle skiing, China, led by Beijing Winter Olympics gold medalists Qi Guangpu and Xu Mengtao, won the mixed team aerials gold. Li Xinpeng, a young talent, scored the highest among the Chinese skiers in the final. Kazakhstan and Japan took silver and bronze, respectively. In the cross-country men's 10km free, Haruki Yamashita of Japan won gold, with his teammate Takatsugu Uda and Olzhas Klimi of Kazakhstan taking silver and bronze.

Following Monday's competitions, China leads the medal tally with 21 golds, 18 silver, and 15 bronze medals. South Korea follows with 11 golds, 10 silver, and 9 bronze, while Japan has 4 golds, 4 silver, and 9 bronze medals.
