Ukraine Ready to Sign Minerals Deal with US, Says Zelenskyy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Sunday that Ukraine is prepared to sign a minerals deal with the United States.
"The agreement that's on the table will be signed if the parties are ready," Zelenskyy told UK media after a summit in London.
The deal, intended to aid in ending the conflict in Ukraine, fell through on Friday following a tense Oval Office meeting between Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump.
"It is our policy to continue what happened in the past, we're constructive," Zelenskyy said. "If we agreed to sign the minerals deal, we're ready to sign it."
Zelenskyy had traveled to Washington for a planned signing of the deal, which aimed to facilitate the joint exploitation of Ukraine's mineral resources as part of a post-war recovery plan.
However, during their meeting, Trump reportedly berated Zelenskyy, demanding more gratitude for US support in the war and claiming that without US assistance, Ukraine would have fallen to Russia.

Does Zelenskyy understand he's risking Ukraine’s future by signing away valuable minerals?

Zelenskyy should stand firm against bullying. Why agree to terms set under pressure by foreign leaders?

Signing this deal under Trump's pressure would send a clear signal of weakness for Ukraine.

Trump’s disrespect is unacceptable. Ukraine shouldn’t be pressured into making unfair deals.
