Authorities in Arizona are investigating the homicide of a 14-year-old girl whose dismembered remains were discovered near Highway 60, weeks after she was reported missing. Emily Pike, a member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe, was last seen on January 27 in Mesa, Arizona. At that time, she was spotted around 7:45 p.m. in the vicinity of Mesa Drive and McKellips Road, wearing a pink and gray shirt.
On February 14, law enforcement found Pike's remains inside multiple trash bags near milepost 277 off Highway 60 close to Globe. However, not all of her limbs have been recovered, and authorities stated the examination revealed trauma to her face and head. Even with these findings, a definitive cause of death has not yet been established.
Emily's mother, Steff Dosela, remembered her daughter as kind, happy, and artistic. Dosela described Emily's love for art, painting, and drawing, adding that her daughter had plans to pursue higher education and further develop her artistic talents. Pike was residing in a group home in Mesa at the time of her disappearance, while her family lived on the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation. Dosela mentioned in an interview that Emily’s case manager only informed her about the teen's disappearance a week later.
Dosela and her family are struggling to understand what could have led to Emily's tragic death. Expressing deep grief, Dosela said no parent should endure such devastating pain and described Pike as an innocent child. She also indicated that authorities are currently questioning three people who may be involved but did not yet reveal their names; investigators planned to discuss this further with her soon.
Police have made no arrests yet and are actively requesting anyone with information to contact the Gila County Sheriff’s Office, the San Carlos Apache Tribal Police, or the Bureau of Indian Affairs to assist with the investigation.

Absolutely disgraceful that it took them one whole week to inform the family. Shameful negligence!

Emily sounded like such a talented and inspiring soul, taken far too soon. Rest in peace, sweet girl.
