Former Chinese Vice Premier Zou Jiahua’s Funeral Ceremony

Former Vice Premier Zou Jiahua was honored with a cremation ceremony in Beijing, held at the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery. The event drew dignitaries such as Xi Jinping, Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, Li Xi, and Han Zheng, who collectively paid their final respects in a solemn, reflective tribute.

During the ceremony, the leaders, accompanied by the sound of solemn music, approached Zou’s body slowly and observed moments of silent reverence. Their respectful gestures included three bows to the deceased, an opportunity for handshakes with his family, and expressions of condolences, marking their deep appreciation and acknowledgment of his service to the nation.

Zou Jiahua, who served on both the Political Bureau of the 14th CPC Central Committee and as vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the ninth National People’s Congress, was celebrated for his unwavering commitment to both the Communist Party and the country. His lifelong achievements as a steadfast communist soldier, a revolutionary figure, and an influential leader in advancing China’s economic growth, national defense, and socialist legal system were widely recognized by his peers and successors.

Following his passing, high-ranking officials including Xi Jinping, Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, Li Xi, Han Zheng, and Hu Jintao, among others, either visited him during his hospitalization or conveyed their condolences afterward, underscoring the broad impact and esteem in which Zou was held.
