The Ukrainian Air Force reported on Thursday that the country had been targeted in a drone attack overnight. In a Facebook post, the Air Force stated that 85 enemy drones had been shot down, while 52 others had failed to reach their targets.
The announcement came after U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he had spoken to both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In a Truth Social post, Trump described his call with Putin as "lengthy and highly productive."
Trump also said that he and Putin had agreed to begin negotiations immediately to end the war in Ukraine. He added that he would be calling Zelenskyy to inform him of the conversation.
In a later post, Trump said that his talk with Zelenskyy had gone "very well." He noted that Zelenskyy, like Putin, wanted to make peace.

“I’m skeptical about negotiating with a country like Russia after such actions. Peace talks don’t justify this chaos.”

“Trump acting as a mediator with Putin and Zelenskyy? It sounds more like a self-serving narrative than real progress.”

“If peace was really the agenda, why is there an emphasis on military action? It feels contradictory.”
