Greene Demands Hearings for PBS and NPR
Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is demanding hearings and wants to haul the leadership of NPR and PBS to Capitol Hill for hearings over their alleged "blatantly ideological and partisan coverage."
Greene, who oversees the "Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency," announced her intended review of PBS and NPR in a letter sent to the heads of the broadcasters on Monday.
The letter to PBS expresses concern over the broadcaster's "blatantly ideological and partisan coverage" and seeks to understand PBS's position on providing Americans with accurate information. It also asks PBS to testify before the House Oversight Committee.
The letter takes particular issue with PBS implying that Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk made a "Nazi salute" on the day of Donald Trump's inauguration. According to the letter, the characterization was clearly false and the Anti-Defamation League, a group that focuses on combating antisemitism, agrees.
The letter sent to NPR accuses the broadcaster of refusing to cover the Hunter Biden laptop story. Greene argues that NPR's coverage should serve all Americans, not just a narrow slice of like-minded individuals and ideological interest groups. She also points out that NPR refused to cover the Hunter Biden laptop story in an attempt to protect then-candidate Joe Biden leading up to the 2020 presidential election.
Greene insists that it was unreasonable to think Musk's salute was a fascist salute. She argues that this kind of one-sided reporting, which attacks over half the country to protect and promote its own political interests, doesn't deserve a single cent of American taxpayers' money.
Greene is eager to offer up NPR and PBS to Musk's scrutiny. She looks forward to bringing the president of each of these so-called "media" outlets before her subcommittee to explain why they deserve to continue receiving public funding. She believes that this could be a great place for Musk to save some extra money.

Let’s get down to the facts! I want to hear what these organizations have to say about their funding and reporting.

If NPR and PBS are indeed partisan, then hearings are justified. We need to scrutinize how our funds are used.

Her claims are a thinly veiled attempt to impose a narrative that suits her political agenda. Very disappointing.

The potential for misuse of taxpayer funds in media has to be addressed. Greene is right to call for hearings.

Let’s focus on constructive dialogue rather than politically motivated witch hunts. The public deserves better.
