Fridge or Cupboard?
For many Brits, the question of where to store their beloved sauces is a matter of heated debate. While some families swear by keeping their condiments in the cupboard, others insist on the fridge. But what does the science say?
According to food storage expert Joshua Houston, storing sauces in the cupboard could pose a health risk. He warns that the warm environment can lead to bacterial growth, potentially causing illness. Additionally, refrigeration can extend the shelf life of sauces, allowing you to get more bang for your buck.
Heinz, the iconic ketchup brand, has also weighed in on the debate. A study conducted by the company revealed that a staggering four out of ten Brits store their Heinz Tomato Ketchup in the cupboard, despite the recommended storage being the fridge. The research also found that residents of Sheffield were the worst offenders, with a whopping 62% keeping their ketchup at room temperature.
"There was only ever one correct answer, and we're happy to share with Heinz Tomato Ketchup lovers across the UK that our ketchup has to be in the fridge."
for optimal taste and safety, the fridge is the way to go.

Ketchup is meant to be at room temperature. Who wants cold ketchup? Not me!

Safety regulations can be exaggerated. Just use common sense with your condiments!

Seriously, who has room for all that stuff in the fridge? Just keep it simple and use the cupboard.

I always thought it was weird when people kept ketchup in the cupboard. Fridge is the place!
