Succession" Mansion Destroyed in Los Angeles Wildfires

A Luxurious Mansion Featured in "Succession" Falls Victim to LA Fires

A lavish Pacific Palisades mansion, once featured in the hit television drama "Succession," has been reduced to ashes by the wildfires currently ravaging the Los Angeles area. The Daily Mail published photos showcasing the devastating aftermath, with the once-majestic house now lying in ruins, reduced to charred beams and rubble.

This opulent estate, known as the San Onofre estate, was purchased by Austin Russell, the founder and CEO of lidar manufacturer Luminar Technologies, for a staggering $83 million in 2021. Boasting an impressive 20,000 square feet, the mansion offered six bedrooms and 18 bathrooms, and was even available for rent at a staggering $450,000 per month.

The San Onofre estate had its moment in the spotlight during the season four premiere of the Emmy Award-winning HBO series "Succession" in 2023. However, a representative for Russell has yet to respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.

The Palisades Fire, raging in the Pacific Palisades area north of Santa Monica, is just one of the numerous blazes wreaking havoc across Los Angeles this week. As of Sunday, the fire has scorched over 23,000 acres and is only 11% contained, according to Cal Fire. The devastating blaze, which ignited on Tuesday, has already damaged or destroyed over 5,000 structures.

The Pacific Palisades area is home to numerous celebrities, many of whom have tragically lost their homes to the fire. Among those affected are Paris Hilton, Billy Crystal, and Milo Ventimiglia. The Palisades Charter High School, a popular filming location for movies like "Carrie" and "Freaky Friday," has also suffered damage from the fires.

Tragically, the fires have also claimed the Spanish Colonial revival mansion in Altadena, featured in the shows "Hacks" and "Runaways." The Will Rogers Ranch house, another iconic Los Angeles landmark, has also been lost to the flames.

The LA County Medical Examiner has reported a total of 16 deaths related to the wildfires, with five linked directly to the Palisades Fire. The fires continue to rage, leaving a trail of destruction and heartbreak in their wake.

The celebrities who lost homes can afford to rebuild. But what about all the everyday people who have lost everything? 😔

We can rebuild and recover from this tragedy, but it'll take a collective effort. Let's come together and support those in need. 💪💪

So much wealth concentrated in one house, while so many people struggle to afford rent. This fire exposes the grotesque inequalities in society. 🤬

The mansion belonged to a tech CEO, while many firefighters are risking their lives for peanuts. This whole situation is messed up. 👎

The fire doesn't discriminate, burning down the rich and poor alike. But the consequences will be felt much more deeply by those with less. 😔
