A horrific accident on the Newell Highway near Tomingley, New South Wales, claimed the lives of four people on Friday night. Emergency services rushed to the scene around 9:20 pm after receiving reports of a serious collision. Upon arrival, officers from the Orana Mid-Western Police District discovered two mangled vehicles, a Toyota Hilux and a Toyota Hiace, involved in the crash.
Tragically, four individuals lost their lives at the scene. Two young men, aged 18 and 19, and a man and a woman, both 57, were pronounced dead. The victims' identities are yet to be officially confirmed.
The driver of one of the vehicles, a 23-year-old man, sustained suspected leg injuries and was transported to Dubbo Hospital for medical attention.
Police have cordoned off the area as a crime scene and are diligently investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision. A report will be compiled and submitted to the coroner.
The Newell Highway was closed in both directions overnight but has since been reopened to traffic. The community is deeply saddened by this tragedy and extends its heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased.
