Marina Fogle Recounts False Child Abuse Report and Supports Kirstie Allsopp
Marina Fogle, wife of TV presenter Ben Fogle, has spoken out about her own experience with false child abuse reports and expressed support for Kirstie Allsopp, who recently faced a similar situation.
Fogle revealed in an article for The Times that she was investigated by social services after someone falsely reported her for verbally abusing her children. This occurred while the family was on holiday, and despite providing proof of their absence, the social worker continued to question Fogle about her children's home life.
The incident left Fogle shaken and she believes it highlights the potential for false reports to cause unnecessary distress and even lead to children being wrongly removed from their families. She shared a similar experience of a friend who nearly lost custody of her children after a doctor mistakenly concluded that her child's broken arm was caused by domestic abuse.
Fogle's story comes in the wake of Kirstie Allsopp's experience, where she was contacted by social services after sharing that her 15-year-old son had traveled independently around Europe. Some criticized Allsopp's decision, leading to the social services inquiry.
Fogle expressed her support for Allsopp, describing her as a "brilliant" mother who understands the importance of teaching children how to assess and manage risks. She believes that young people should be given the opportunity to experience independence and learn from it, just as she did when she traveled independently as a teenager.
Both Fogle and Allsopp's experiences highlight the potential for social media and public scrutiny to create unnecessary pressure on parents and lead to unwarranted interventions by authorities. Their stories serve as a reminder of the importance of responsible parenting, open communication with children, and the need for a balanced approach to risk assessment and child protection.

Everyone here should realize that parenting can be judged harshly through social media. Let’s support each other instead!

Marina’s support for Kirstie seems more about defending her privileged lifestyle than actual parenting wisdom.

Marina's story is sad, but it doesn’t negate the importance of protecting children. Investigations are needed in these cases.

This is just a way for them to deflect from their parenting choices. Not every decision is free from consequences.
