IRGC Ground Forces Conclude Hybrid Exercise

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Ground Forces successfully concluded a hybrid military exercise on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, in southern Iran and on several Persian Gulf islands. The drills, which included controlled live-fire operations, were designed to enhance the combat readiness of IRGC units and test new tactics and technologies.

The exercise took place at locations including the Madinah ol Munawarah Operational Base near Bandar Abbas in Hormozgan Province, and on unspecified Persian Gulf islands, presumed to be the Nazeat Islands. These strategic locations are situated near the vital Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil transit.

This Ground Forces exercise follows closely on the heels of a naval exercise conducted by the IRGC Navy just last week, titled 'Smart Control of the Strait of Hormuz'. That naval drill, which commenced on February 16, 2026, also featured anti-ship cruise missiles, naval drones, and submarine units operating from Iranian islands. The combined exercises underscore Iran's signaling of its ability to disrupt global energy flows in the event of an attack.
