An explosion and fire at a fireworks retail store in Dong'an Village, Donghai County, Jiangsu Province, Eastern China, on Sunday afternoon has claimed the lives of eight people and left two others with minor burns. The incident, which occurred around 2:30 p.m. local time, prompted a swift emergency response from local authorities.

Cause and Response

Local authorities reported that the blast was triggered by a villager who improperly set off fireworks near the store. Emergency services, including fire, police, and health crews, were dispatched to the scene. Their prompt efforts led to the fire being extinguished by approximately 4:00 p.m.
