UAE and Iran Conclude Second Round of Political Consultations in Tehran

High-Level Diplomatic Engagement in Tehran

The United Arab Emirates and Iran successfully concluded their second session of political consultations in Tehran on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. The high-level meeting aimed to strengthen bilateral relations and address regional challenges, marking a continued effort by both nations to foster stability and cooperation in the Middle East.

The consultations were co-chaired by Her Excellency Lana Nusseibeh, Minister of State for the UAE, and His Excellency Majid Takht Ravanchi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs of Iran. Also in attendance were Khalid Belhoul, the UAE Ambassador to Iran, and Reza Ameri, Iran's Ambassador to the UAE, alongside other senior officials from both foreign ministries.

Discussions on Bilateral Ties and Regional Security

During the session, officials engaged in comprehensive discussions covering a broad spectrum of mutual concerns. Key topics included:

  • Strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.
  • Exploring practical avenues to advance shared interests for the benefit of both nations and their populations.
  • Reviewing various foreign policy files.
  • Addressing the latest developments in the region impacting peace and security.

The dialogue underscored the commitment of both the UAE and Iran to diplomatic solutions and collaborative approaches to regional issues.

Commitment to Continued Coordination

The consultations concluded with a mutual agreement to maintain regular coordination and to activate joint technical committees. This initiative aims to accelerate the implementation of existing agreements and to explore new opportunities for cooperation across various sectors.

In a separate engagement during her visit to Tehran, H.E. Lana Nusseibeh was received by His Excellency Abbas Araghchi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran. During this meeting, Minister Nusseibeh conveyed greetings from His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, and further discussed issues pertinent to regional peace and security.

This second round of political consultations follows the inaugural session, which took place in Abu Dhabi on Friday, March 1, 2025, also co-chaired by Minister Nusseibeh and Deputy Foreign Minister Ravanchi. These ongoing diplomatic exchanges signify a concerted effort by both the UAE and Iran to enhance understanding and cooperation.
