Alibaba Cloud's 'YOUR EPIC VIBE' Campaign Engages Global Fans with AI-Generated Winter Olympics Art for Milano Cortina 2026

Alibaba Cloud Unveils 'YOUR EPIC VIBE' AI Art Campaign for Winter Olympics

Alibaba Cloud, in collaboration with Ogilvy Shanghai, has successfully concluded its 'YOUR EPIC VIBE' campaign, a global initiative that invited Olympic enthusiasts to generate AI-powered artworks inspired by winter sports. The campaign culminated in a video compilation of 100 selected pieces, which premiered globally on the opening day of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.

Global Participation and Innovative AI Technology

The 'YOUR EPIC VIBE' campaign ran for 20 days, from January 6 to January 26, Beijing time. It garnered significant international interest, attracting tens of thousands of submissions from participants aged 7 to 79 across more than 100 countries and regions. Participants utilized Alibaba Cloud's AIGC (Generative AI) technology, specifically its 'Wan AI' platform, to transform their passion for winter sports into digital art. The process involved customizing 'white models' of four iconic extreme movements from Winter Olympics history, allowing fans to add colors, backgrounds, and motion effects.

Showcasing Creativity and Olympic Spirit

The campaign's objective was to merge the Olympic spirit with AI-driven creativity, enabling a diverse range of cultural expressions through a shared artistic experience. The initiative echoed the Milano Cortina 2026 Games' slogan, 'It's Your Vibe'. Beyond the campaign video, the top 100 artworks have achieved a unique place in history, being showcased at The Olympic Museum in Lausanne, marking the first instance of fan-created AI art entering the Olympic legacy. Additionally, the 'Your Epic Vibe' exhibition transformed public spaces into dynamic galleries, including Clubhouse26 at Arco della Pace in Milan and a welcoming display in Hangzhou, China.

Alibaba Cloud's Enduring Partnership with the Olympics

This campaign underscores Alibaba Cloud's ongoing commitment as a worldwide partner of the Olympic Games. The company consistently deploys advanced cloud and AI technologies to enhance various Olympic events, building on its contributions to Tokyo 2020, Beijing 2022, and Paris 2024. Alibaba Cloud's technological support extends to broadcasting and public services, including the implementation of 'Olympic AI Assistants' powered by its Qwen large language model for the Milano Cortina 2026 Games.

The 'white models' sound restrictive. Is it really fan-created if it's templated?

While the use of AI to involve fans worldwide is innovative and exciting, the heavy emphasis on Alibaba Cloud's technology feels like a thinly veiled advertisement for their services rather than a pure celebration of sport.

Where's the human creativity? This takes away from actual artists.

This campaign feels more about Alibaba Cloud's brand than the Olympic athletes.

Another example of big tech trying to insert itself everywhere. Stick to cloud services.
