Ex-Husband Arrested in Murders of Ohio Dentist and Wife

Arrest Made in Tragic Ohio Murders

An arrest has been made in the double homicide of an Ohio dentist and his wife, who were found dead in their Columbus home late last month. Authorities have charged Michael David McKee, 39, of Chicago, Illinois, with two counts of murder in the deaths of Dr. Spencer Tepe, 37, and Monique Tepe, 39. McKee is identified as Monique Tepe's ex-husband.

The couple was discovered deceased on December 30, 2025, in their residence located in the Weinland Park neighborhood of Columbus. Police responded to the home after concerned friends and a coworker of Dr. Tepe reported that he had not shown up for work, which was described as 'out of character.' Officers conducting a wellness check found both Spencer and Monique Tepe with apparent gunshot wounds.

Investigation Leads to Illinois Arrest

Investigators believe the murders occurred between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. on December 30. Three 9mm shell casings were reportedly found inside the home. Police were able to identify McKee as a person of interest through neighborhood video surveillance, which showed a vehicle arriving shortly before the shootings and leaving soon after. This vehicle was later tracked to Illinois, and evidence linked it to McKee.

McKee was arrested on Saturday, January 10, 2026, and booked at the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office in Illinois. He is currently being held there, awaiting his next court appearance scheduled for Monday.

Victims Remembered, Children Unharmed

Spencer Tepe was a local dentist, and Monique Tepe was a stay-at-home mother. The couple was just one month shy of celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary. Tragically, their two young children were found unharmed inside the home when police arrived.

In a statement released by Spencer Tepe's brother-in-law, Rob Misleh, the family expressed their grief and gratitude for the arrest. Misleh stated, 'Today's arrest represents an important step toward justice for Monique and Spencer. Nothing can undo the devastating loss of two lives taken far too soon.' He added, 'Monique and Spencer remain at the center of our hearts, and we carry forward their love as we surround and protect the two children they leave behind.'

Good, one less killer walking free. They deserve peace.

While the police deserve credit for tracking down the suspect, this case highlights the devastating impact of domestic disputes. We need to do more to prevent such violence from escalating.

While it's good that the alleged perpetrator is in custody, this incident painfully reminds us of how quickly lives can be shattered. My thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones.

The arrest is a positive development for justice, but we shouldn't forget the profound grief and trauma. The focus now must also be on supporting the children through this unimaginable loss.

An arrest doesn't bring them back. The kids still lost their parents.
