According to Mr. Ado Adamu, the Acting Commander of the FRSC's Ringim Local Government Unit in Jigawa, the crash happened at approximately 4:45 p.m. The vehicle, identified as a red Volkswagen Golf with registration number ND 983 XA, was reportedly traveling from Bauchi State to Kankia Local Government Area in Katsina State. Preliminary investigations by the FRSC indicate that the primary causes of the accident were a tyre burst and excessive speeding. Some reports also cited overloading and reckless driving as contributing factors.
Casualties and Response
Of the 23 passengers involved, 11 lost their lives, comprising five males and six females. Additionally, 12 individuals sustained varying degrees of injuries, including seven males and five females. Following the crash, rescue teams transported the deceased and injured to Ringim General Hospital.

Mr. Umar Matazu, the FRSC Sector Commander in Jigawa State, extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to those injured. SP Shi'isu Adam, the Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Police Command, described the accident as 'very unfortunate' and confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
