Extensive Public Transport Disruptions Across Paris and Île-de-France
Commuters in Paris and the Île-de-France region are advised to prepare for significant disruptions to public transport services from Monday, November 24, to Sunday, November 30, 2025. The disruptions will affect metro, RER, and Transilien lines, primarily due to ongoing modernization and essential maintenance work undertaken by transport operators RATP and SNCF.
Metro Service Adjustments
While the Paris Metro network is relatively less impacted compared to other services, some key lines will experience changes. Metro Line 1 will see the closure of Tuileries station on weekends from 4 p.m. to 11:45 p.m., an ongoing measure until January 4, attributed to the Christmas market. Additionally, Varenne station on Metro Line 13 will not be served from November 26 to 30 as part of modernization efforts.
Significant RER and Transilien Impacts
The RER and Transilien networks are expected to face the most substantial disruptions, with service interruptions predominantly occurring in the evenings and throughout weekends.
- RER A: Evening service will be interrupted between Cergy – Le Haut and Maisons-Laffitte on weekdays from 9:50 p.m. until December 19. Early morning suspensions are also in effect on this section until December 13.
- RER C: Disruptions include Issy station not being served towards Dourdan la Forêt, Saint-Martin d'Étampes, and Massy – Palaiseau until January 11. Weekend service on November 29 and 30 will be suspended between Invalides and Juvisy until 5 p.m.
- RER E: On Saturday, November 29, service will be suspended between Nanterre-La-Folie and Villiers-sur-Marne / Tournan. Weekday evening interruptions from 8:55 p.m. between Nanterre – La Folie and Tournan are also scheduled until December 12.
- Transilien Line K: Full-day service suspensions are planned for Saturday, November 29, and Sunday, November 30, between Gare du Nord and Mitry-Claye. Evening service from 8:00 p.m. between Gare du Nord and Crépy-en-Valois is suspended until December 20.
- Transilien Line P: Significant weekend disruptions on November 29 and 30 include full-day suspensions between Meaux and La Ferté-Milon, and between Gare de l'Est and Château-Thierry. Evening service suspensions on various sections are also in place until December 19.
- Transilien Line R: Weekday evening service between Gare de Lyon and Montargis will be suspended from 11 p.m. to 5:20 a.m. until December 12.
In many affected areas, replacement bus services will be provided to mitigate the impact on commuters.
Commuter Advisory
Passengers are strongly advised to anticipate longer travel times and to consult official channels such as the RATP, SNCF Transilien, and Île-de-France Mobilités websites and applications for real-time traffic information and alternative routes before commencing their journeys. These essential works are aimed at improving the long-term reliability and efficiency of the public transport network.

On one hand, proactively maintaining transport is smart and prevents bigger issues. On the other hand, the advisory to 'expect longer travel times' feels like an understatement given the extensive RER/Transilien impacts, potentially crippling productivity for many.

Another week of chaos. This is absolutely ridiculous for commuters.

Short-term pain for long-term gain. This is how infrastructure improves.

While modernization is definitely needed for an aging system, the sheer scale of these simultaneous disruptions will be incredibly tough on daily commuters. I hope the alternative plans are robust.

It's good to see investment in infrastructure, ensuring future reliability. However, the lack of specific details for some lines and the broad impact could lead to significant confusion and delays for many.
