Train Delays and Rail Replacement Services Announced for Chiemgau-Inntal Network in November 2025

Extensive Construction Work to Impact Chiemgau-Inntal Rail Network

DB InfraGO AG has announced upcoming construction work that will cause considerable disruptions to train services in the Chiemgau-Inntal network from Thursday, November 20, to Saturday, November 29, 2025. The planned measures will result in schedule deviations, numerous train cancellations, and the implementation of rail replacement services (Schienenersatzverkehr – SEV) with buses across several key routes in Germany.

The Bayerische Regiobahn (BRB), which operates services in the affected region, has highlighted the severity of the situation, with its CEO stating, 'We can hardly maintain train traffic!'

Affected Routes and Specific Disruptions

The primary route impacted by the construction activities is München Hauptbahnhof – Rosenheim – Salzburg/Kufstein. Passengers should anticipate the following specific disruptions:

  • Bridge Work (November 20-21, 2025): In the night from Thursday, November 20, to Friday, November 21, 2025, bridge work on the München Hauptbahnhof – Rosenheim – Kufstein line will necessitate schedule deviations and rail replacement services with buses between Brannenburg and Rosenheim.
  • Overhead Line Work (November 20-29, 2025): Due to overhead line work, several train services between Prien and Übersee will be cancelled daily in both directions throughout the entire construction period, from November 20 to November 29, 2025. These cancelled services will be replaced by buses.
  • Cancellations between Salzburg and Freilassing: Additional train services will be cancelled daily in both directions between Salzburg and Freilassing. Passengers on this section are advised to utilize the available S-Bahn services.

Trains and buses operating as part of the replacement services will run at different times than the regular schedule.

Passenger Information and Alternatives

To assist travelers during this period, BRB has made special timetables available for download on its official website, www.brb.de. Passengers can also subscribe to a newsletter for up-to-date information on disruptions and construction measures. For real-time updates, travelers can consult the 'BRB Störungsinfo' on Facebook and BRB's WhatsApp channels. Furthermore, detailed location plans for all rail replacement service stops are accessible via www.bahnhof.de. Train connections not explicitly listed in the special timetables are expected to operate according to their regular schedules.

At least they're giving us notice well in advance. Planning is key.

Infrastructure upgrades are crucial. Short-term pain for long-term gain.

Another month, another rail disruption. This is getting ridiculous.

While infrastructure maintenance is vital for long-term safety and efficiency, these frequent disruptions make daily commuting incredibly frustrating for many. They really need to find ways to minimize impact.
