Russia Unleashes Massive Missile and Drone Barrage on Kyiv, Causing Widespread Damage and Injuries

Overnight Assault Rocks Ukrainian Capital

Kyiv experienced a massive missile and drone attack overnight from November 13 to 14, 2025, as Russian forces launched a large-scale aerial assault targeting the Ukrainian capital and other regions. Explosions were reported across Kyiv starting around 12:45 a.m. local time on November 14, prompting air raid alerts across the entire country.

The attack involved a combination of various weapon types, including drones (such as Shahed), cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and Kinzhal hypersonic missiles. Ukrainian air defense units were actively engaged in repelling the assault, with officials confirming their operation in the skies over the capital.

Widespread Damage and Casualties Reported

The extensive barrage resulted in significant damage across nearly all districts of Kyiv. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported via Telegram that the attack was 'massive' and detailed the impact on civilian infrastructure.

• In the Dniprovskyi district, drone debris struck a five-story residential building, causing damage to a lower floor and setting two apartments on fire. Nine people were evacuated from the building.
• The Darnytskyi district saw several car fires due to falling debris.
• Damage to residential buildings was also recorded in the Podilskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Holosiivskyi, Desnianskyi, Solomianskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi districts, including multi-apartment buildings, private estates, and non-residential structures.
• Fires broke out in open areas and on the roof of one residential building.
• A medical facility in the Holosiivskyi district was also affected by debris, leading to a fire.

Beyond structural damage, the attack also impacted essential services. Sections of heating networks were damaged, with some buildings in the northeastern Desnyansky district temporarily losing heat. There were also warnings of potential disruptions to electricity and water supplies.

Injuries and Official Response

The overnight assault led to multiple casualties. Mayor Klitschko confirmed that at least 11 people were wounded, with five requiring hospitalization. Among those hospitalized were a pregnant woman and a man reported to be in 'extremely serious condition'. Additionally, a 55-year-old man in Bila Tserkva, located in the Kyiv region, sustained thermal burns and was hospitalized.

Officials, including Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, and Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Kyiv regional military administration, confirmed that critical infrastructure and civilian settlements were among the targets. This latest attack follows a pattern of intensified Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure in recent months, particularly as winter approaches, in an apparent effort to disrupt power and demoralize the populace.
