Annual Event Called Off
The highly anticipated annual fireworks display in Ramsey, Isle of Man, has been cancelled. The event, organized by the Ramsey Town Commissioners and traditionally held at Mooragh Park, was called off due to forecasts of strong winds. The cancellation was announced on Thursday, October 30, 2025, just days before the display was set to take place.
Safety Concerns Lead to Decision
The decision to cancel the display was made with public safety as the primary concern. A spokesperson for the Ramsey Town Commissioners stated, 'The safety of those involved in or attending the display is our primary concern and it is for this reason we have made the difficult decision to cancel the event.'
The display was originally planned for Saturday, November 1, 2025. However, it was initially rescheduled to Sunday, November 2, 2025, due to 'logistical issues' concerning the transportation of fireworks to the Isle of Man. These issues were attributed to delays with dangerous goods certification on the vessel carrying the fireworks, affecting supplies from Galaxy Fireworks Isle of Man, a key supplier for many island displays. Despite the initial rescheduling, the subsequent forecast of strong winds for Sunday evening ultimately led to the complete cancellation of the event.
Mooragh Park: A Community Hub
Mooragh Park, the venue for the annual display, is a significant recreational area in Ramsey. This 40-acre pleasure park, established in 1887, features a 12-acre boating lake from which the fireworks are typically launched. The park offers a range of facilities including tennis courts, a bowling green, and a cafe, making it a popular gathering place for residents and visitors alike.
Future Possibilities
The Ramsey Town Commissioners have indicated that they are exploring the possibility of holding a fireworks display at a later date. An announcement regarding any rescheduled event is expected in due course.

This is getting to be a joke. Everything cancelled these days.

It's understandable that high winds are a safety concern for fireworks, but the initial 'logistical issues' suggest there might be underlying organizational challenges that need addressing.

Utterly disappointed. My kids look forward to this all year.

While nobody wants to risk public safety, the double cancellation, first due to transport and then weather, highlights how vulnerable these events are. A clear, well-planned alternative is crucial.
