Iran Condemns Recent Israeli Airstrikes in Gaza Amid Rising Casualties

Iran Denounces Israeli Actions in Gaza

Tehran, Iran – Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei, has issued a strong condemnation of recent large-scale Israeli airstrikes targeting various areas across the Gaza Strip. The condemnations, made on Wednesday night, October 29, 2025, follow a series of bombardments that have led to numerous deaths and injuries, including a significant number of children. Baghaei described the attacks as a 'systematic violation of all legal and moral principles' and evidence of 'the regime's intent to continue its genocide against the Palestinian people'.

Escalation and Civilian Toll

The Israeli airstrikes, which occurred primarily on the evening of October 28 and overnight into October 29, 2025, targeted southern, central, and northern Gaza, including tents sheltering displaced Palestinians. Reports indicate a severe civilian toll. According to the Gaza Health Ministry and other sources, over 100 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed, and hundreds more were injured in these strikes. One report specified at least 46 children and 20 women among the deceased, with 200 people injured. The attacks reportedly hit residential areas, a vehicle, and a mosque sheltering displaced individuals, as well as locations near Al-Shifa Hospital. These actions have been widely described as a 'clear violation of the ceasefire agreement' that had been in place.

Baghaei Calls for International Action

In his statement, Baghaei criticized Israel for its 'gross violations of legal and moral norms,' asserting that these ongoing strikes are carried out under the 'full support of the United States'. He emphasized the heightened responsibility of all governments, under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, to intervene decisively. The Iranian spokesperson urged ceasefire guarantors to take immediate action to curb Israel's 'aggression and genocidal policies' and ensure accountability for those responsible.

Iran's Enduring Stance on the Conflict

Iran has maintained a consistent and strong anti-Israel stance since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, refusing to recognize Israel's legitimacy as a state. This position is deeply rooted in its ideological, political, and strategic interests, with Iran positioning itself as a staunch supporter of the Palestinian cause. Tehran provides financial, military, and logistical assistance to Palestinian resistance groups such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has previously referred to Israel as a 'cancerous tumour' that should be removed from the region. This long-standing policy underscores Iran's view of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as a core regional issue.

Iran is right; accountability is crucial for these war crimes.

The article rightly points out the severe civilian toll, yet it's also crucial to remember the complex origins of these conflicts and the provocations that often precede such responses. Both sides have grievances.

The call for international intervention is understandable given the suffering, but any lasting solution requires a de-escalation from all actors, not just a focus on one nation's actions, especially when groups like Hamas are involved.

While the civilian casualties are absolutely tragic, Israel also faces very real security threats from groups operating in Gaza. It's a devastating cycle of violence.

Israel has a right to defend itself from constant threats.
