India Mobile Congress 2025 Concludes with Focus on Future Technologies
The 9th India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025, Asia's largest telecom, media, and technology event, successfully concluded in New Delhi today, October 11, 2025. Held at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in Dwarka, the four-day event, which commenced on October 8, brought together global leaders, policymakers, industry experts, and innovators under the theme 'Innovate to Transform'. The congress underscored India's commitment to leveraging innovation for digital transformation and societal progress.
Key Themes and Strategic Priorities
Organized jointly by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), IMC 2025 featured extensive discussions and showcases across critical technological domains. Key focus areas included:
- 6G and Next-Generation Connectivity
- Quantum Communications
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Semiconductors in Telecom
- Optical Networks
- Cyber Fraud Prevention
- Smart Mobility
- Green Technology
- IoT and Electronic Manufacturing
- Satellite Communications
These themes reflected India's strategic priorities in achieving next-generation connectivity, digital sovereignty, and global technology leadership. The event also saw the inauguration of the International 6G Symposium 2025, bringing together thought leaders to deliberate on 6G technologies and research collaborations. The Bharat 6G Alliance signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with NASSCOM and the European Space Agency to foster joint participation in technology development.
Global Participation and Prime Minister's Address
The congress witnessed significant global participation, with over 1.5 lakh (150,000) visitors from more than 150 countries, alongside 7,000 global delegates and over 400 participating companies. Delegations from countries including Japan, Canada, the United Kingdom, Russia, Ireland, and Austria were actively involved, highlighting India's growing influence in the global digital ecosystem. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the event, emphasizing India's remarkable growth in the telecom and digital technology sectors and highlighting the strength of the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India) vision. He noted that 'IMC events are no longer limited to just mobile or telecom. In just a few years, this event has become Asia's largest digital technology forum.'
Innovations and Industry Showcases
More than 1,600 new technology use-cases were showcased during the event. Notable innovations included:
- Reliance Jio's 'Safety-First' feature on JioBharat phones and the launch of an AI Classroom–Foundation Course.
- Vodafone Idea (Vi) presented 5G and AI-driven 'Human-novations,' focusing on advanced tech for skill development and modernizing traditional crafts.
- Ericsson showcased 5G-powered solutions, including the 5G-enabled Grain ATM, Annapurti, developed with the World Food Programme.
- MediaTek unveiled its plans for AI and technology, announcing a partnership with TSMC for a new flagship chip.
The Aspire Startup Program was also launched, connecting innovators with global investors through the Startup World Cup India Edition, further fostering India's vibrant startup ecosystem.
