Dramatic Interception in Sydney's Southwest
New South Wales Police, in a coordinated operation involving the Tactical Operations Unit, Pol Air, Dog Squad, and State Intelligence Command, dramatically intercepted an alleged 'kill team' in Revesby, Sydney's southwest, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. The high-risk intervention occurred on The River Road around 3:50 PM, stopping two vehicles that were allegedly mobilising to carry out an offence. Images from the scene showed a Mitsubishi SUV and a Mercedes-Benz, with the SUV's windscreen riddled with holes from 'non-lethal rounds' used during the arrest.
Three Men Charged with Conspiracy to Murder
Following the interception, three men were arrested and subsequently charged with serious offences. Kevin Mundine, 19, and Greall Tighe, 18, were arrested from one car, while Tyrone Tuiluga Rio, 26, was apprehended from a second vehicle nearby. The younger men face charges including conspiracy to commit murder, possess unauthorised pistol, being carried in a conveyance taken without consent of owner, participating in a criminal group, and breach of bail. The older man, Rio, was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and participating in a criminal group. All three were refused bail and were scheduled to appear in Bankstown Local Court on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
Alleged Target: A Man Near a Daycare Center
Police allege the men were en route to carry out a planned killing of an individual in the vicinity of a daycare center in Revesby. NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Scott Cook described the scenario as 'deeply concerning,' emphasizing that the intervention prevented a potentially devastating incident. Authorities confirmed that the public was not in danger during the operation as the men were under tight surveillance, and contingencies were in place to prevent them from reaching any daycare center. Police seized two firearms, balaclavas, body-worn cameras, and jerry cans containing fuel from the cars, with a third firearm found during subsequent searches of vehicles and premises linked to the men.
Organised Crime Link and Ongoing Investigation
The alleged plot is believed to be connected to organised crime networks, with police describing the charged men as 'junior guns for hire' who were allegedly hired by a syndicate, possibly an offshore one, to carry out the murder. The intended victim, known to police, was allegedly targeted due to an internal dispute within an organised crime network. The operation, conducted under Strike Force Flodine, is part of the State Crime Command's broader strategy to dismantle organised crime across Sydney. Investigations are ongoing to determine any wider networks or affiliations.

Swift, decisive action. This is exactly what we need to keep our communities secure.

Arresting 'junior guns' won't solve the problem. The real masterminds are still out there, probably offshore.

Near a daycare? This is absolutely terrifying. What is happening to our society?

Relief that the public and children were kept safe. NSW Police did an outstanding job.

While the quick response by police is certainly reassuring, it's deeply concerning that such a violent act could be planned so close to a children's facility. It raises questions about overall public safety in our suburbs.
