Global Fintech Fest Kicks Off in Mumbai
The Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2025 officially commenced on October 7 in Mumbai, India, marking the sixth edition of what has become the world's largest fintech gathering. The event, scheduled to run until October 9, 2025, is being held at the Jio World Convention Centre in the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).
Organized by the Payments Council of India (PCI), the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), and the Fintech Convergence Council (FCC), GFF 2025 brings together an extensive array of global leaders, central bankers, fintech innovators, policymakers, regulators, investors, and academics from over 100 countries.
Theme and Key Participants
The central theme for GFF 2025 is 'Empowering Finance for a Better World – Powered by AI: Augmented Intelligence | Innovation | Inclusion'. This theme underscores the event's focus on leveraging artificial intelligence to foster more inclusive, efficient, and intelligent financial systems.
The festival is set to feature high-profile participation, including keynote addresses by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on October 9. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman participated in the inaugural session on October 7, emphasizing the importance of using technology for public good and cautioning against its 'weaponisation'. Other prominent speakers include Piyush Goyal (Minister of Commerce & Industry), Devendra Fadnavis (Chief Minister of Maharashtra), Sanjay Malhotra (Governor, Reserve Bank of India), and Tuhin Kanta Pandey (Chairman, SEBI).

The festival will also host hackathons, including the NABARD Hackathon, Securities Market Hackathon, and PSB Hackathon Series, with final pitches and showcases taking place live.
Global Reach and Impact
Expected to draw over 100,000 attendees and more than 7,500 companies, GFF 2025 features over 1,000 speakers and 400 exhibitors. International regulators such as the Monetary Authority of Singapore, Deutsche Bundesbank of Germany, Banque de France, and the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) are also participating, highlighting the event's global significance in shaping the future of finance.
