Authorities in Lonato del Garda, Italy, have arrested the 59-year-old mother and 16-year-old son of Dolores Dori, 44, in connection with her murder. Dori, a woman of Sinti origin, died on Thursday, October 2, 2025, after being shot multiple times during a violent confrontation at a Romani camp in the Brescia province. She was later abandoned at the Desenzano Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries despite emergency surgery.

Family Dispute Led to Deadly Confrontation

The incident is believed to have originated from a deep-seated family dispute between Sinti families, reportedly over sentimental issues involving their respective children. According to preliminary investigations, Dolores Dori, her mother, and her son traveled to the Romani camp in Lonato del Garda, allegedly driving their vehicle in reverse and breaking through a gate. Upon entering, they reportedly opened fire on individuals present at the camp. The occupants of the camp returned fire, and it was during this exchange that Dolores Dori sustained three gunshot wounds to her abdomen and leg.

Key Evidence and Arrests

A crucial piece of evidence in the investigation emerged from the 16-year-old son's smartphone, which reportedly contained a video recording of the entire shooting incident. This footage allowed investigators to reconstruct the dynamics of the confrontation. The arrests of Dori's mother and son took place on Saturday, October 4, 2025, in Brescia. They face charges including attempted aggravated murder, illegal possession and carrying of weapons, and threats.

Ongoing Investigation and Background

The exact sequence of events and the full extent of involvement of all parties are still under investigation by the Carabinieri of the Brescia Investigative Unit, coordinated by Deputy Prosecutor Francesca Sussarellu. Authorities are also reportedly searching for the victim's father-in-law, who is suspected of firing the fatal shots. Following the incident, the Romani camp where the shooting occurred was quickly emptied and has since been placed under seizure. Dolores Dori, originally from the Venetian area, had a criminal record for theft and fraud. Her brother is a state's witness in an unrelated case, though investigators have stated this is not connected to her murder.
