Upon his arrival, HH Sayyid Bilarab was welcomed by Yoshitaka Ito, Minister for the 2025 World Expo, and other senior Japanese government officials. He signed the Expo 2025 Osaka VIP guestbook and attended a special ceremony at the Yumeshimanaka Hall, which included a traditional Japanese tea ceremony.
Highlighting Oman's Vision and Culture
The National Day ceremony commenced with the raising of the Omani flag in the expo's main square, accompanied by the playing of the Royal Anthem of the Sultanate of Oman and the National Anthem of Japan, symbolizing the strong bilateral ties between the two nations.
Minister Yoshitaka Ito emphasized the enduring relationship between Oman and Japan, noting their shared history and ongoing cooperation. He highlighted the significance of the Oman Pavilion's theme, 'Earth, Water, and Humanity,' which presents a vision of a future society living in harmony with nature.
Sayyid Said bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth for Culture and Commissioner-General of the Oman Pavilion, stated that Oman's participation reflects the nation's achievements during its ongoing renaissance. He noted that Oman's spirit of interaction stems from 'water, earth, and humanity,' enabling its people to share their identity, culture, and values of peace while embracing global cultures.
Oman Pavilion: A Blend of Tradition and Innovation
The Oman Pavilion, themed 'Earth, Water, and Humanity' or 'Oman – Extended Links,' is strategically aligned with the Expo's 'Saving Lives' sub-theme. Its design, a result of the Bilarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design, showcases the creativity of Omani youth and connects Omani architectural identity with future aspirations.
The pavilion offers a multisensory experience, featuring interactive exhibits that explore Oman's geography, cultural history, and tourism sector. It aims to promote cultural and technological exchange, showcase the nation's civilizational and economic progress, and celebrate its rich historical heritage. The pavilion has already welcomed its one-millionth visitor, demonstrating its popularity.
Throughout the Expo, Oman is organizing over thirty activities to introduce its history, culture, and initiatives in sustainability, energy, and innovation. HH Sayyid Bilarab, accompanied by Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, also visited the Japan Pavilion, where he was briefed on its design and explored sections dedicated to earth, farming, and industry.

The Bilarab bin Haitham Award fostering youth creativity in design is commendable. Yet, the challenge remains for these innovative designs to be implemented sustainably and widely, not just within a temporary structure.
