Major Investment in Madinah's Sacred Infrastructure
Madinah, Saudi Arabia – The Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh, officially inaugurated a series of significant development projects for mosques and grand mosques across Madinah. The initiatives, with a total value exceeding SR395 million ($105.3 million), were launched on Wednesday, September 18, 2025, as part of the Minister's inspection visit to the ministry's branch in the region.
Scope of the Development Projects
The comprehensive development plan encompasses both the construction of new places of worship and the extensive rehabilitation of existing ones. Key components of the projects include:
- The operation and maintenance of mosques and grand mosques, allocated over SR95 million, which will cover approximately 90 percent of the mosques in the Madinah region.
- The construction of 87 new mosques and grand mosques, with an investment exceeding SR282 million.
Enhancing Services for Worshippers
Minister Al-Sheikh emphasized that these projects underscore the leadership's unwavering support and dedication to the construction and upkeep of mosques. The primary objective is to improve the quality of services provided to worshippers and to reinforce the noble mission of serving Islam and Muslims. During his visit, Dr. Al-Sheikh reviewed the progress of work and the development plans and programs of the ministry's branches in the region, ensuring efforts are aligned to improve efficiency and enhance the quality of services for citizens, residents, and visitors to Madinah.
