Navalnaya Alleges Poisoning Based on Foreign Lab Results
Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of prominent Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, announced on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, that independent laboratory tests conducted abroad confirmed her husband was poisoned prior to his death in a Russian prison. Navalnaya stated that biological samples from Navalny's body were secretly transported out of Russia in 2024 and subsequently examined by two laboratories in different countries.
In a video statement, Navalnaya asserted, 'These labs in two different countries reached the same conclusion: Alexei was killed. More specifically, he was poisoned.' She did not specify the type of poison detected or provide direct proof of the results, claiming the laboratories had not released their full findings due to 'political considerations.' Navalnaya urged these laboratories to make their results public, stating, 'These results are of public importance and must be published. We all deserve to know the truth.'
Official Russian Stance and Previous Claims
Alexei Navalny, 47, died on February 16, 2024, in the IK-3 Arctic penal colony in the Yamalo-Nenets region, where he was serving a 19-year sentence. Russian authorities reported that he became ill after a walk and subsequently lost consciousness, attributing his death to 'sudden death syndrome' or a 'combination of diseases,' including heart arrhythmia. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated he was unaware of Navalnaya's recent claims. Russian officials have consistently denied any involvement in Navalny's death, dismissing allegations as 'absurd' and 'unfounded.'
Navalnaya has repeatedly accused President Vladimir Putin of being responsible for her husband's death. In her recent video, she also questioned the absence of surveillance footage from the prison and presented images purportedly showing vomit on the floor of Navalny's cell on the day of his death.
Context of Prior Poisoning and Imprisonment
This is not the first time Alexei Navalny has been at the center of poisoning allegations. In August 2020, he fell severely ill during a flight from Tomsk to Moscow and was subsequently airlifted to Berlin, Germany, for treatment. International laboratories in Germany, France, and Sweden, along with tests by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), confirmed he had been poisoned with a Novichok nerve agent. Russian authorities denied any involvement in the 2020 incident.
Despite the confirmed Novichok poisoning, Navalny voluntarily returned to Russia in January 2021, where he was immediately arrested upon arrival. He was subsequently sentenced on charges he maintained were politically motivated, leading to his imprisonment in the Arctic penal colony.

She offers no evidence, just claims. Don't believe the hype.

Another clear assassination. The world sees through their lies.

Convenient timing for these 'secret' lab tests. Sounds suspicious.

It's hard to ignore Navalnaya's claims given the past Novichok incident, but without public evidence from these new labs, it remains a difficult case to prove definitively.

Why hide the lab results? This story has too many holes.
