Ferozepur police in Punjab, India, have made a significant arrest in a drug trafficking case. A 22-year-old drug smuggler was apprehended, and authorities seized 15 kilograms and 775 grams of heroin. The estimated value of the seized narcotics is approximately Rs 75 crore. The heroin is believed to have been smuggled into India from Pakistan.
The arrest was the result of a covert operation by the CIA staff, acting on intelligence about a large shipment entering the country. The suspect, identified as Sonu, was taken into custody near an embankment on the Sutlej River in the Ali area.
During the investigation, police discovered a cross-border conspiracy. The heroin was reportedly ordered by a prominent drug trafficker currently incarcerated in Kapurthala jail. This individual is believed to have coordinated with associates in Pakistan. The Punjab Police are preparing to bring the jailed smuggler in for further questioning.
SSP Bhupinder Singh reported that drug smugglers operating near the Ferozepur border have increased their activity, taking advantage of the recent flood situation. He stated that these individuals are continuously sending consignments. In the past two weeks alone, approximately 30 kg of heroin has been recovered in the Ferozepur area, all suspected to have originated from Pakistan.
The police are now focused on dismantling the entire drug network. They are investigating all aspects of the operation, including the intended distribution of the seized heroin and the communication methods used by the smugglers to maintain contact across the border.

The Pakistani side of the border should also be held to account for the supply.

The police are now focused on dismantling the entire drug network? Seems like that should have been the priority all along.

Taking advantage of the flood situation." Seriously? Exploiting a natural disaster to peddle poison? Disgusting.

Rs 75 crore? That's a massive amount! Makes you wonder how many other shipments are slipping through the cracks.
