On September 15, Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha made a heartfelt appeal for the community to engage in a mass movement to address pressing societal issues like drug addiction and HIV/AIDS. Speaking at the 44th Foundation Day and Blood Donation Camp hosted by the Nikhil Tripura Mahanam Sevak Sangha in Agartala, he promised that the government would provide support in these endeavors. Saha highlighted the significance of blood donation as a means of spreading awareness and encouraging voluntary contributions among community members.
Saha stressed the necessity for public discussions and awareness campaigns surrounding addiction and health issues, affirming the vital nature of collective action in battling these challenges. He noted that the government plays a crucial role in fostering discussions to unite the community against the drug menace while indicating that collective efforts are essential for the nation's strengthening.
The Chief Minister also referenced the positive impact of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiatives aimed at improving the lives of citizens, particularly those from impoverished backgrounds. He mentioned the rise in women’s self-help groups (SHGs) and the emergence of "Lakhpati Didis," encouraging the community to acknowledge these advancements and support government efforts. Saha underscored the importance of fostering entrepreneurship and standing against societal evils.
Furthermore, he conveyed that the country is experiencing significant progress across various sectors, highlighting the leap from the 11th to the 4th position in terms of economic performance. Saha reiterated the government’s vision of transforming India into a developed nation by 2047 where every household benefits from economic growth and improved living standards.
