ICE Detains Cuban National Accused of Gruesome Decapitation in Texas

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced on Friday that it has filed for the federal arrest and removal of an illegal immigrant following a horrific incident in Texas. Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, a national from Cuba, was taken into custody by the Dallas police on Wednesday, facing homicide charges for the alleged murder of a merchant with a machete during an argument, which occurred in front of the victim's family. Reports indicate that after the act, Cobos-Martinez disturbing kicked the victim's head around like a soccer ball.

Currently, Cobos-Martinez is being held at the Dallas County Jail. He has a long history of criminal activities, which includes offenses such as child sexual abuse, grand theft auto, false imprisonment, and carjacking, according to the recent statement from ICE. Furthermore, he had a previous final order for removal to Cuba but was last released under supervision in January 2025, during the Biden administration, as stated in the release. His release stemmed from Cuba's refusal to accept him back due to his criminal record.

Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin commented on the incident, expressing that this brutal act could have been avoided had Cobos-Martinez not been released into the United States. She emphasized that his release was made possible during the Biden administration, as Cuba refused to repatriate him due to his past crimes. McLaughlin highlighted the urgency for removing such dangerous individuals and mentioned the possibility of relocating criminal illegal aliens to third countries under new policies intended to prevent similar situations.
