A nurse in New Jersey, Lexi Kuenzle, is suing after facing disciplinary action for reporting a doctor who allegedly celebrated the idea of Charlie Kirk's assassination. The lawsuit, filed on Friday, names Englewood Health, Dr. Matthew Jung, and others as defendants. The incident reportedly occurred in front of both patients and staff.
According to the lawsuit, Kuenzle questioned how Dr. Jung could uphold the Hippocratic Oath and the American Medical Association’s Code of Medical Ethics while seemingly celebrating the potential murder of a non-violent Christian speaker. The complaint also alleges that Dr. Jung offered to buy lunch for the nursing staff after the incident.
Kuenzle reported the incident to hospital management and shared her reaction on social media. She stated that she was shocked and angered by the doctor's alleged comments. Following her complaint, Kuenzle claims she was suspended without pay and later informed she would be fired.
Englewood Health stated that both the doctor and nurse were placed on suspension to allow for a thorough investigation, following standard protocol. The hospital also clarified that the nurse was not fired and that any suggestions of her seeking other employment were not official statements from the hospital.
The lawsuit alleges that the hospital violated the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination due to their knowledge of Kuenzle's Christian faith. It also claims retaliation, violation of the Conscientious Employee Protection Act, and the creation of a hostile work environment. Kuenzle is seeking a jury trial and unspecified monetary damages. As of Sunday morning, Dr. Jung was no longer listed on Englewood Health's website.

A nurse's duty includes protecting the dignity of all patients—thank you for speaking out!

Retaliation against her is completely unacceptable—no one should fear losing their job for doing the right thing.

She should focus on doing her job instead of playing the victim.

This is a serious issue that should not be taken lightly. I hope she wins her case.

Looks like she's just playing the blame game instead of handling the situation like an adult.
