AI Innovations Steal the Show at China's Trade in Services Fair

At the 2025 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), a robot dog is attracting significant attention. This innovative machine is equipped with a methane detection probe, designed to identify potential gas leaks and enhance community safety.

This robotic inspector, developed by Beijing Gas Group Co., Ltd., can be programmed with specific routes and inspection areas, allowing it to conduct regular patrols and safety checks within residential compounds. This robot is just one example of how artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming various aspects of daily life, a trend prominently displayed throughout this year's CIFTIS.

AI applications are revolutionizing multiple service trade sectors across the exhibition halls. In the health services section, Guang'anmen Hospital of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences showcased an AI diagnostic robot. This "AI doctor" utilizes large-model technology trained on extensive real-case data, enabling it to perform traditional Chinese medicine diagnoses, including pulse reading and facial analysis.

The environmental services section also featured AI innovations. He Mu Ecology presented an eco-dredging robot for remote-controlled dredging in urban rivers and underwater environments, as well as cleaning hazardous materials. QuantaEye Technologies Co., Ltd. exhibited a "water environment scout," a floating monitoring device that collects real-time water quality parameters, enabling dynamic water monitoring and early pollution alerts.

The CIFTIS exhibition halls have drawn large crowds eager to experience these AI applications firsthand. Experts are actively exploring ways to integrate this technology into their respective fields, transforming innovative concepts into tangible productivity gains.

In the culture and tourism services zone, visitors are experiencing mixed reality (MR) through wearable devices, immersing themselves in interactive virtual environments. The education services zone features AI-powered support systems tailored for child development, combining health monitoring, personalized tutoring, and physical activity tracking.

Experts note that China's application of digital intelligent technologies has led to a surge of new AI products, application scenarios, and service formats, stimulating new potential in service consumption. AI innovation is reducing the cost and barriers to trade in services through automation and digitalization, while also creating new service formats and business models.

The theme of this year's CIFTIS is "Embrace Intelligent Technologies, Empower Trade in Services." The event, which runs for five days, features participation from numerous countries and international organizations, along with nearly 2,000 exhibiting companies. Since its inception, CIFTIS has provided a platform for enterprises worldwide to share opportunities stemming from China's opening up and development of trade in services.

Reducing costs? Is that really a win if it means corporations profit and workers lose?
