Aaron Judge matched Joe DiMaggio's position on the New York Yankees' all-time home run leaderboard during Thursday's game against the Detroit Tigers. He achieved this feat by hitting home runs in his first two at-bats of the game.
Judge's first home run, his 360th career homer, came in the first inning. The ball traveled 413 feet to left center field, landing in the bullpen. In the third inning, he hit his second home run, a 434-foot shot over the bullpen, tying him with DiMaggio.
Judge reached this milestone in his 4,925th career plate appearance. DiMaggio, who played from 1936 to 1951, accumulated 2,747 more plate appearances during his 13-season career, which included a three-year break for military service during World War II.
This milestone home run was Judge's second of the week. Earlier in the week, he surpassed Yogi Berra with his 359th home run.
Judge, despite playing with a flexor strain in his right elbow that caused him to be placed on the injured list earlier in the season, has hit 46 home runs this season. This places him second in the American League, behind Cal Raleigh. He is aiming for his fourth season with 50 or more home runs.
In Judge's fourth at-bat, he was hit in the left elbow by an offspeed pitch from Sawyer Gipson-Long. The crowd at Yankee Stadium reacted with boos, prompting Tigers manager A.J. Hinch to remove Gipson-Long from the game.

The media loves to make this a big deal. Its still the regular season and doesn't mean much.
