Fulham announced on Wednesday that 18-year-old midfielder Josh King's goal against Chelsea was voted the club's goal of the month for August. Despite a controversial VAR decision denying him his first Premier League goal the previous month, his strike against Chelsea was recognized as the best of the month.
King's goal involved a dynamic run from his own half. He chased a long pass from Sander Berge, driving into the Chelsea area. He skillfully turned defender Tosin Adarabioyo before delivering a powerful, low shot into the bottom corner.
The club highlighted the significance of the moment, noting that King received 83.1% of the votes. However, the celebration was cut short. A VAR review determined that Rodrigo Muniz had stepped on Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah's foot in the build-up to the goal. The score was 0-0 at the time, but Chelsea ultimately won the match 2-0.
Howard Webb, the head of the referees' body (PGMOL), acknowledged that the decision to disallow the goal was incorrect. He stated that the video assistant referee (VAR) had made an error by intervening.
King's connection with Fulham dates back to his youth. He joined the club's academy at the age of eight and made his Premier League debut in December of the previous year. He has been a consistent presence in the team, starting all three of Fulham's league games this season.

18 years old and already dealing with poor officiating? How is this fair to the young talent?!

The fact that such a brilliant goal was overshadowed by a wrong VAR call is just disappointing. We want goals to count!

This scenario just goes to show that VAR is ruining the beautiful game. We need to get back to the basics.

This whole VAR fiasco is a joke. If a player scores and it’s taken away, does that diminished their talent?
