Shooting at Evergreen High School Leaves Three Critically Wounded

A shooting at Evergreen High School in suburban Denver resulted in critical injuries to three teenagers on Wednesday. Among the wounded was the suspected shooter, according to authorities.

The incident was reported around 12:30 p.m. at the high school, located approximately 30 miles west of Denver. Details surrounding the events leading up to the shooting remain unclear, including the circumstances of how the suspected shooter, believed to be a student, was shot. Law enforcement officers at the scene are not believed to have fired any shots.

The shooting occurred on school property, though the exact location within the grounds was not immediately confirmed. Investigators have indicated that they do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the community. All three injured teens were transported to St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado.

Evergreen High School, with an enrollment exceeding 900 students, is situated near a forested area. The school is about a mile from the center of Evergreen, a town with a population of approximately 9,300. Over a hundred police officers from the Denver area responded to the scene. The incident brought to mind the 1999 shooting at Columbine High School in Jefferson County, which resulted in 14 fatalities.

Parents of Evergreen High School students were directed to an elementary school for reunification with their children. Authorities described the situation as deeply frightening for both parents and students.
