Vivek Ramaswamy, a Republican, has received another labor endorsement in his campaign for Ohio's governorship. The Central Midwest Regional Council of Carpenters, representing 37,000 trade workers across Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky, announced its support for the candidate. Jason Clark, the group's senior political advisor, conveyed their appreciation for Ramaswamy's commitment to their members' priorities in an endorsement letter.
This marks the third union endorsement for Ramaswamy in recent weeks. He previously ran for president in 2024 and later assisted Donald Trump and Elon Musk in establishing the federal Department of Government of Efficiency. Ramaswamy has also secured support from the Northwest Ohio Building & Construction Trades Council and the Cleveland Building & Construction Trades Council.
In a statement released by his campaign, Ramaswamy emphasized the importance of Ohio's skilled tradespeople. He stated his commitment to expanding vocational training, collaborating with the CMRCC on their priorities, and investing in infrastructure to benefit union workers and all Ohioans.
The carpenters group has a history of endorsing candidates from both parties. Last year, they supported Democrat Kamala Harris for president and Republican Mike Braun for governor of Indiana. In Ohio, they endorsed Democrat Sherrod Brown in his unsuccessful re-election campaign and Democrat Tim Ryan in his unsuccessful 2022 Senate race. Tim Ryan is considering a run for governor in 2026. Dr. Amy Acton, Ohio’s former health director, is also seeking the Democratic nomination. Incumbent Gov. Mike DeWine, a Republican, is term-limited.
Jai Chabria, Ramaswamy’s chief strategist, noted that while other parties are still working on endorsements, Ramaswamy has already unified the Republican Party and is focused on the general election.

Jai Chabria and Ramaswamy are a great team. It's what Ohio needs right now which is a unifying duo.

Remember when he ran for president and insulted working-class people? Now he wants their votes.

The carpentry union has a history of picking losers. I wouldn't trust their judgment.

Following Trump and Musk means prioritizing the wealthy. Not exactly a labor-friendly duo.

Excellent news! Infrastructure improvements create good-paying jobs, that benefit everyone, not just union workers.
