China is boosting its sports industry, viewing it as a new economic driver. Over the next five years, the government will provide support through planning, construction, and funding, as part of the 15th Five-Year Plan.
The NDRC and the General Administration of Sport will create plans for outdoor sports. By 2030, China aims for 100 high-quality outdoor sports destinations, supported by government and public funds. Financial institutions will also be encouraged to support outdoor sports businesses.
China has already met its sports industry goals outlined in the 14th Five-Year Plan. The outdoor sports market is expected to exceed 3 trillion yuan by 2025. The sports industry is growing, with increased consumption in areas like event attendance and sports tourism.
New technologies are also boosting sports consumption, especially among young people. The sports equipment sector is growing, with over 63,000 enterprises and a 34% increase in output value since 2015.
China's sports industry also offers opportunities for international partners. The China International Import Expo has a zone for sports goods, focusing on importing world-class products and services.
