The Japan Meteorological Agency announced that Typhoon Peipah is advancing toward western Japan, with landfall expected later this week. Authorities have issued warnings about the likelihood of heavy rain, mudslides, and flooding associated with the storm.
Specifically, the forecast indicates that certain areas could see major rainfall totals, with the Shikoku region anticipating up to 300 millimeters within a 24-hour period until Friday morning. Meanwhile, the northern and southern parts of Kyushu could experience around 200 mm, and the Tokai region in central Japan may receive about 180 mm.
In the Kanto-Koshin area, which includes the Tokyo metropolis, expected rainfall is around 100 mm. As of early Friday morning, Typhoon Peipah was reported to be positioned approximately 170 kilometers south of Tanegashima Island and is moving northward at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour, with wind speeds reaching 90 kilometers per hour.
