In a significant advancement for healthcare collaboration, the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin conducted a signing ceremony for a memorandum of understanding (MOU) focused on 'Hospital-to-Hospital' cross-border transfer services. The event, held in Hengqin, Guangdong province, was attended by key figures including Nie Xinping, deputy director of the zone's executive committee, and Leong Man-cheong, commissioner general of the Unitary Police Service.
This agreement paves the way for a direct linkage between hospitals in Hengqin and Macao, designed to deliver more efficient and secure emergency medical transfer services to residents. Under the terms of the MOU, an effective and reliable cross-border transfer mechanism will be implemented, ensuring that patients evaluated by designated hospitals can be moved swiftly and without complications, thereby enhancing overall medical treatment efficiency.
Nie noted that this MOU will elevate medical service standards on both sides, safeguarding the health of local citizens. Leong further emphasized that this agreement signifies a crucial step forward in the ongoing integration efforts between Hengqin and Macao. The ceremony also saw Feng Fangdan, director of the Bureau of Livelihood Affairs, honor Centro Hospitalar Conde de Sao Januario of Macao, recognizing it as one of the first two designated hospitals for this essential cross-border service, alongside Hengqin Hospital of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University.
