China is taking steps to ease cross-border travel for both Chinese citizens and foreign nationals. A key initiative involves expanding the list of countries whose citizens can visit China without a visa.
This new policy will allow ordinary passport holders from Russia to enter China visa-free for a period of up to 30 days. This applies to various purposes, including business, tourism, family visits, cultural exchanges, and transit. The visa-free entry will be in effect from September 15, 2025, to September 14, 2026.
The announcement was made by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun. He was responding to a question about discussions on bilateral exchanges during a recent meeting between the Chinese and Russian heads of state. Guo emphasized the strong relationship between China and Russia, highlighting its high level of operation under the strategic guidance of the two leaders.
China views facilitating personnel exchanges between the two countries as a priority. This effort supports increased interactions between the people of China and Russia, contributing to the ongoing development of their comprehensive strategic partnership. The spokesperson expressed a welcoming attitude towards Russian visitors, encouraging them to visit China frequently.

This is concerning. Why are we adding more potential travelers from a country with such a questionable political climate?
